The Raptor Ramble is a great way to get to know Los Cerritos Wetlands.
Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference. Why not kick off June with a guided nature walk at Los Cerritos Wetlands? I hope you will join us and our partners, environmental educators from the environmental consulting firm Tidal Influence, on a beautiful nature walk of Los Cerritos Wetlands on Saturday, June 3rd. Get outside with us and enjoy some of our unique local open spaces and interesting habitat.
Our nature walk will begin with a brief orientation to our wetlands. We will stroll through heritage coastal sage scrub and historic dredge spoils while looking for raptors (birds of prey) and a number of other species that nest in the area. As we pass the salt flats, we may see tiger beetles and coyote tracks while learning about the important restoration planning for the Seal Beach portion of Los Cerritos Wetlands.
We will complete our walk by heading back to the access parking area. Bring binoculars, if you have them; we will observe many different kinds of interesting wildlife.
WHAT: Raptor Ramble on the Hellman Portion of Los Cerritos Wetlands.
WHEN: Saturday, June 3rd, at 8:00 am sharp! The parking lot gate will open at 7:45 AM and close at 8:10 AM. No latecomers can be admitted for the tour, and all participants must stay for the entire tour, which will end by 10:00 AM.
WHERE: Meet in the driveway/parking area at the corner of 1st Street and PCH in Seal Beach. Close-toed shoes are required, and kids under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
We will have a special guest for this nature walk, Pete Marsh, group leader of the Citizens Climate Lobby, who will share some thoughts about the relationship between natural lands, restoration, and climate change.
For more information about the Raptor Ramble or RSVP, please reserve your spot through our Eventbrite page.
Los Cerritos Wetlands will look its best this Saturday. Lush and green from all the rainfall of the past month, so we hope you will join us!

P.S. We invite you to help directly restore Los Cerritos Wetlands after our nature walk. For example, the folks below are removing invasive brassica nigra mustard plants because they crowd out native wetlands plants that wildlife depend on for food and shelter. The Wetlands restoration event will be from 10:30 to 12:30 this Saturday. A flyer with all the events happening at Los Cerritos Wetlands, including community restoration, can be found here.
